Our Story...

It began with the desire to be a part of something meaningful and to leave a legacy for our children.  So, in 2002, after an extensive search, we purchased the farm and our journey began.  Our goal was/is to be sustainable and provide our family with a healthier way of life and better food.  We decided to raise "Heritage Breeds" with Devon cattle being our first choice. Our farm needed a lot of TLC when we purchased it, so the first years were spent in renovating and reclaiming pastures, building and repairing fences, clearing brush and working on the farmhouse.  (It's a work in progress!)  We purchased our first animals in the fall of 2006 and finally moved to the farm full-time in the summer of 2007.

We believe in the health benefits of a grass-based system and all of our animals are raised on pastures without harmful hormones or unnecessary antibiotics. Our cows and sheep are rotated through native grass pastures in Spring, Summer and Fall.  In Winter we graze them on winter wheat & rye pastures and supplement with hay.  Grass-fed beef and lamb are an excellent source of Omega-3 an Omega-6 fatty acids and cancer-fighting CLAs (Congugated Linoleic Acids).  Devons are particularly suited to grass and have been called "The Butcher's Breed" due to their ability to produce a high volume of tender, fine grained meat with intramuscular fat on grass alone. (To learn more about Devons check out the 'Devons' section under 'Our Animals'.)

We now have 42 Devons, 30 "old-style" Hereford and 56 Red Angus.  We also have a small flock of Katahdin sheep, a few pigs, some chickens, a couple of Anatolian Shepherd guard dogs, a Bulldog, a house cat and a barn cat.

We feel truly blessed to be here in this place and plan to be here for many years to come!
